Course Description:
This seminar will present an introduction to the use of cognitive strategies to increase motor competence in children. The Cognitive Orientation to dailyOccupational Performance (CO-OP) Approach will be highlighted. It will include a discussion on: the theoretical framework underpinning cognitive strategies in general and CO-OP in particular; the key features of the CO-OP; global and domain specific strategies; populations with which the CO-OP may be used; current evidence supporting the use of the CO-OP.
Speaker:
R. Lyle Duque, MSc, OTRP is the founding editor of the Philippine Journal of Occupational Therapy. He has authored/co-authored several researches (both quantitative and qualitative) and has been a recipient of a research grant from the National Institutes of Health. He has presented in several national and international conferences including the World Congress of Occupational Therapy and International Occupational Therapy Conference. He is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of the Philippines Manila and his master of science degree in occupational therapy from the University of Plymouth in the UK.
